This lot consists of Government generated DEMIL A Mixed Metals Scrap located at National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), White Sands Test Facility, 12600 NASA Road, MS RC, Las Cruces, New Mexico.
The property offered for sale consists of Government generated DEMIL A Mixed Metals Scrap, including, but not limited to:
- Steel
- Iron
- Other ferrous and non-ferrous materials
- Incidental foreign material normally associated with mixed scrap accumulation
- Small non-working generators, cannibalized Lathe, wire and cables, used building materials from demolition
Estimated weight: Approximately: 296,940 pounds (or 148 net tons)
The property is offered for sale as scrap material for recycling as material content only. No property is offered or sold for reuse, resale, or transfer as usable property.
This lot may contain some amount of unacceptable materials ("rubbish material"), meaning non-scrap, non-recyclable, or otherwise unacceptable material inadvertently commingled with scrap metal. The successful bidder is responsible for proper handling and disposal of any rubbish material removed.
Condition & Markings
- This lot is in scrap condition.
- The materials show extensive deterioration, corrosion, and weathering throughout.
- Metal components exhibit significant rust, oxidation, and structural damage.
- Building materials display demolition damage with broken, bent, and fragmented pieces.
- Wire and cable materials are tangled, cut, and show signs of exposure damage.
- Generator components are disassembled and non-functional with missing parts.
- Lathe machinery parts are cannibalized with major components removed.
- Materials are stored in outdoor yard conditions and show environmental exposure.
- Various metal types are intermixed including steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
- Some materials show paint residue, coatings, and surface treatments in various stages of deterioration.
Inspection and Removal
- Inspection and Removal: Property must be removed in its entirety within ten (10) business days from the date and time of award e-mail notification. Successful bidders must contact the Property Custodian, Lucinda Havenor, at [email protected] or 575-524-5538 prior to removal for specific facility safety, loading and security requirements. Inspection and removal must be scheduled either between the hours of 8:00 a.m. through 12:00 p.m., or between 1:00 p.m. through 3:00 p.m., except on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays.
- Removal must occur by direct removal. Direct removal means removal without use of a staged contractor-provided container. Direct removal may include pickup, loading, transportation preparation, and removal by flatbed, box truck, trailer, or other Government-approved transport method.
- The successful bidder is not authorized to establish, operate, or maintain an on-site recycling, processing, dismantling, demolition, shredding, crushing, shearing, compaction, or material transformation operation unless expressly authorized in writing by the Sales Contracting Officer.
- The Government will not furnish equipment, supplies and/or labor to effect removal of the property. All such equipment, supplies and labor are to be furnished by the successful bidder.
- Firearms, ammunitions, tools, and other equipment that is inconsistent with security will not be allowed on the premises.
- Property Inspection: Bidders are strongly encouraged to inspect the property prior to placing a bid to evaluate its condition and suitability. By bidding without an inspection, bidders assume the risk of potential omissions in the description.
- Removal Responsibilities: The successful bidder is solely responsible for all aspects of removal, including packing, crating, banding, loading, and shipping. The agency will not provide assistance.
- Authorized Third-Party Removal: The authorized third-party agent must present a Letter of Authorization from the high bidder (see terms and conditions for details), a copy of the purchaser's receipt, and a valid photo ID at the time of removal.
